Cross-fertilization workshop@HOLIFOOD Consortium meeting in Bari

EU FOOD SAFETY PLATFORM@HOLIFOOD Consortium
The Horizon Europe–funded project HOLIFOOD, uniting 17 organizations from 10 European countries, convened its annual consortium meeting in Bari on 8–9 October 2025.
HOLIFOOD employs a holistic approach to tackling food system risks in a rapidly changing global environment, combining risk-benefit assessment with cutting-edge AI and big data analytics. The project targets three critical supply chains—lentils, maize, and broiler meat—addressing both known and emerging threats to public health, while integrating economic, societal, and environmental considerations.
A central element of HOLIFOOD is its Living Lab process, coordinated and managed by APRE (Agenzia per la Promozione della Ricerca Europea). This participatory framework enables stakeholders and citizens to co-design practical, science-based solutions. Sara Altamore and Alessia Careccia from APRE lead these activities supported by Veronica Lattanzio from CNR ISPA, EU Food Safety Platform coordinator, strongly contributing to the facilitation of workshops and cross-fertilization actions.
They featured a cross-fertilization workshop on 9 October 2025 in Bari and online, fostering dialogue between researchers, institutions, and stakeholders across Europe. The collaborative atmosphere of the meeting reaffirmed why cooperation remains essential to advancing public health, by blending scientific excellence, participatory innovation, and European collaboration in a consolidated approach.
