EU Food Safety Platform at FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2025
This October at the FAO Science and Innovation Forum in Rome, the spirit of European collaboration came to life as Veronica Lattanzio and Martina Loi joined forces to represent the EU Food Safety Platform in the vibrant setting of global food system innovation. Themed “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” the event brought leading scientists, innovators, and policymakers together to shape new paradigms for resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.

Veronica and Martina animated the Platform’s showcase alongside colleagues from the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), inviting participants to experience firsthand how next-generation technology and open governance can enhance food safety everywhere. Their presence exemplified the platform’s role as a bridge among science, policy, and society. Veronica and Martina facilitated interactive conversations, demonstrating the EU Food Safety Platform’s ability to connect over 80 institutions across Europe through digital spaces, co-creation rooms, and multi-actor forums. Their efforts echoed the event’s mission: to spark participatory governance, foster innovative partnerships, and build a more inclusive European food safety culture.
This work stood out as a testament to how transformative dialogue and practical solutions—grounded in collaboration—can support the Sustainable Development Goals and advance the future of safe food worldwide. The FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2025 will be remembered for empowering experts to co-design safer, healthier, and more sustainable agrifood systems for everyone.
