Cross-sectoral evidence-based governance for one health in the EU – Scoping paper
Scientific Advice Mechanism – European Commission’s Group of Chief Scientific Advisors Scoping paper:
«Cross-sectoral evidence-based governance for one health in the EU »
One Health, as defined by the United Nations, is a holistic approach that harmonizes the health of people, animals, and ecosystems. Recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health is pivotal in crafting sustainable policies.
With the EU’s strategic considerations in mind, policymakers must carefully weigh the risks and opportunities of One Health policies. Effective governance structures are essential for seamless implementation across the European Union.
The focus guiding scientific advice from the Scientific Advice Mechanism is on how can management strategies and cross-sectoral collaborations best address the complexities of One Health, ensuring synergies, trade-offs, and unintended consequences. Through robust scientific advice, the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors will support policymakers in implementing One Health policies that foster harmony and resilience across our interconnected ecosystems.
