New Strategic Approach to Research and Innovation for competitive, resilient and sustainable agriculture, forestry, rural areas and food systems
The European Commission has officially adopted its Communication on a New Strategic Approach to Research and Innovation for competitive, resilient and sustainable agriculture, forestry, rural areas and food systems, marking a major milestone in shaping the future of European agri-food research and innovation.
The Communication introduces two complementary frameworks, AgRI 2040 and Food 2040, designed to future-proof EU-funded research and innovation and accelerate the transition towards more competitive, sustainable and resilient agri-food systems. Building on the achievements of the Food 2030 framework over the past decade, the new approach embraces a truly systemic perspective, addressing agriculture, food systems, forestry and rural areas as interconnected parts of a single ecosystem.
