Updating protection and promotion of geographical indications: a new EU Regulation
The European Union issued the REGULATION (EU) 2024/1143 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on April 11, 2024. This regulation aims to improve the protection and promotion of geographical indications and traditional specialities within the EU, ensuring high standards and quality for consumers, by addressing:
- Geographical Indications for Wine, Spirit Drinks, and Agricultural Products
- Traditional Specialities Guaranteed
- Optional Quality Terms for Agricultural Products

- Amendments to Previous Regulations: Updates to Regulations (EU) No 1308/2013, (EU) 2019/787, and (EU) 2019/1753
