Catalyze and EU FOOD SAFETY PLATFORM partnership

The EU Food Safety Platform announces the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CATALYSE, a Horizon Europe project coordinated by Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, prof. Daniela Bassi.
dedicated to catalysing scientific innovation into practical food safety solutions. This agreement establishes a framework for collaboration aimed at strengthening knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement, and innovation uptake across the European food safety ecosystem.

Through this partnership, CATALYSE and the EU Food Safety Platform will build on their complementary strengths to support a more connected, innovative, and impact-driven food safety community. The collaboration will facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices, joint participation in events and workshops, and the co-organisation of activities addressing key challenges and opportunities in food safety.

The agreement also foresees cooperation in the dissemination of tools, methodologies, and digital solutions, as well as the promotion of pilot actions, stakeholder engagement activities, and policy-oriented outputs. In addition, both parties will work together to amplify communication efforts, share news and results through their respective channels, and disseminate key messages of common interest to food safety stakeholders across Europe.

This partnership comes at a pivotal moment for European food systems research and innovation. As discussions progress on the transition from the Food 2030 framework towards the emerging Food 2040 agenda, both initiatives share the ambition of accelerating the deployment of innovation, fostering collaboration across sectors, and ensuring that scientific excellence translates into tangible benefits for food safety, sustainability, and public health.

The collaboration will also contribute to shaping the dialogue at the forthcoming EU Food Safety Forum 2026, where stakeholders from research, industry, public authorities, civil society, and innovation ecosystems will come together to discuss future priorities for food systems transformation. By connecting innovation developers, end users, policymakers, and knowledge networks, CATALYSE and the EU Food Safety Platform aim to strengthen Europe’s capacity to deliver impactful food safety solutions at scale.
