FutureFoodS has launched the 3rd co-funded call for transnational research projects. The call supports transnational research and innovation projects that contribute to the transition towards sustainable, healthy, safe and resilient food systems.

With this third Call, and in line with the EU Vision for Agriculture and Food, FutureFoodS aims to support the transformation of European food systems towards improved sustainability, health, safety, resilience, competitiveness, strategic autonomy, and inclusiveness, translated into the following three topics:

Topic 1: Trusted and transparent sustainable food value chains

Topic 2: Consumer agency and enabling food environments for healthy, safe and sustainable food practices

Topic 3: Innovative processing for sustainable, safe and nutritious food products.

A central theme across the three topics is “Getting everyone on board”, which reflects the need for coordinated collaboration among governments, civil society, private sector and academic disciplines to enable effective information exchange and collective action.

Projects types:

– Exploratory Research Project
– Accelerating Innovation Project

Both project types are equally substantial to boost food system transformation.

The Exploratory Research Project type shall advance the state-of-the-art of scientific knowledge in multiple academic fields related to food sustainability, ranging from ground research developing new theoretical understandings on food sustainability transitions to more applied research aimed at the acquisition of new knowledge and skills for developing new products, processes,
tools or services. Such projects may range from theory development to proof of concept, essentially in an academic or laboratory setting.

The Accelerating Innovation Project type is targeting research and innovation activities related to new sustainable food practices, services, products and processes that are ready for practical application in real life settings. These projects aim at developing and up-scaling science-based solutions in industry, policy and society.).
